Silent Hill: Recognition

Lynn nodded at Kaito. "He's insane," he stated conversationally. "I'm insane. Andi's catatonic, Amon has his own issues, and you're only half of a set. I would never write an ensemble this dysfunctional. That's the only reason I know it's real. Let him be nuts; it's worked out so far."

((The problem with Andi 'checking out' for a while is he was the best character for actually doing stuff -_- ))

Suddenly, Past vanished. Kaito looked around to try and find where Past went, but he was gone. Kaito gritted his teeth and said "Not. Funny." There was knocking from the other side of a metal door. Knocking turned to pounding, which threatened to break down the door.

"Cliche" muttered Lynn, preparing himself for a fight. Amon tried again to snap Andi out of it, but when that failed he tucked him in a corner out of the way and readied his weapons.

The beast tore threw the door and attacked the group. Past was slumped in a corner of the room, unconscious.

To the others' surprise Amon was the first to charge forward. He would be brave. He dodged the beast and swept Andi's blade along it's side, before sliding to the floor next to Past. He shook the man and flicked his ear in an effort to wake him up.

Past slowly opened his eyes and looked drowsily at Amon. Kaito fought off the monster and yelled "help would be welcome!" Past got up and stared at the monster through half-lidded eyes. An ominous air surrounded Past as he took out his sword and walked slowly towards it. Past picked up the pace and ran at the beast full speed, cutting it in half as he past it. Kaito got out off the way just in time.

Amon approached Past cautiously; clearly he wasn't himself. (something of an understatement...) He clasped his hands in front of him as if he were shaking hands with himself. Friend. He tilted his head, made it a question. We're friends, aren't we?

The Past looked at Amon and stuttered "W-we're friends... I'm just-- i-it's this place"

Amon nodded sadly. He had a way of understanding what people were going through, even when it was far outside his own experience. Right now he desperately wanted to hug Past, but he wasn't sure it was a good idea at the moment. He settled for grasping one of Past's fingers, like a child might, and squeezing gently before letting go with a soft smile.

Lynn got Andi on his feet, idly trying for a reaction. He moved to poke Andi in the eye and shrugged when his hand was swatted away. "I think he's starting to come out of it. He probably just needs a suitably dramatic moment."

"No shortage of that here" Past said as he head, once again, deeper into the prison. "Only a few floors left" He explained. Kaito slowly followed, unsure of what to think of what had happened.

Lynn had his book out, taking notes on the setting. He glanced at Past and idly asked "So what are we expecting, here?"

Past held his head with his right hand and steadied himself with his left on the wall as he replied "I.. really d-don't know right now... ask me later..."

"So we're heading for who knows what while our guide not-so-slowly loses his mind. I for one can't think of a better way to spend my evening." It wasn't clear whether Lynn was being sarcastic or not.

Finally closing in on the bottom floor Past suddenly whirled around and hissed "what was that?" Kaito ended up walking into Past. He listened intently and said "I... don't hear anything" The Past trembled. Something was obviously scaring him.

Lynn raised an eyebrow. "As someone who hallucinates on a more-or-less regular basis, I feel qualified to say that that is a bad sign" he commented dryly.

As they approached a heavy metal door The Past solemnly reminisced "Every time The Order tested me... killed me... I would see this door. I would see myself walk through, walk past rows of my own corpse mangled by ropes or torn by blades... ant then I would take my first painful breath as life returned to me." Kaito looked at the door and asked "what makes you think there's something useful beyond here?" The Pasted sighed and said "The Order made me... if I see this in death, then there must be something there"

Lynn nodded. "Conservation of detail requires it."
