Silent Hill: Recognition

Please don't mind the beast biting you neck, he really is quite friendly. Please enjoy our many sights, like Toluca Lake. Mind the deep water though, you down want to fall. Lakeside Amusement Park is always a good choice if you don't mind the rust and blood. If you get hurt drop by Alchemilla Hospital, good luck getting a doctor. And if you've had enough fun gnawing on that Mask Fiend, drop by Brookhaven Hospital. I assure you, you won't be alone for long.

As they drove down the road Haruto glanced over at Kaito sleeping in the passengers seat. As they got closer to their destination Kaito's unsettled expression calmed slowly. He sighed heavily when he saw the sign

Andi was getting the hang of driving. He'd never done it before, but it had been a long trip and the controls were easy to figure out. He was just glad he hadn't run into any cops; he was sure driving a stolen vehicle was only the first of many road laws he'd broken. It didn't matter, though. He was willing to risk arrest, if this Silent Hill place could help Amon find some peace.
Amon was sitting sideways in the backseat, with the map spread on his raised knees. The closer they got, the more focused he seemed to become. He barely even acknowledged Andi any more. He couldn't escape the feeling that the town was calling to him. He had to go.

Haruto and Kaito entered the town and stopped at a diner. Haruto woke Kaito up and said "we're here. Wanna get some food?" Kaito simply nodded and the twins entered the diner.

The Past stood in the middle of the road, not far from the welcome sign and smiled at an approaching car. He whispered to himself "Now the fun begins"

Andi spotted a figure in the road up ahead. Worry about Amon had put him in a worse mood than usual, so he stayed on course; though he was driving slow enough that the person would have time to get out of the way.

Lynn had been walking for quite a while. Two cars had passed him recently, headed in the right direction, but he hadn't thought to try and hitch a ride. If they'd stopped to offer he probably wouldn't even have responded. He was in no condition to drive himself, he was dimly aware of that, but he didn't want anything to do with people. He would reach the town on foot because to him it was the only conceivable choice.

The Past slowly spread his arms, lowering his head, and grinned wider. The car was only a few feet away and he cackled wildly.

Andi cursed and swerved to the side, colliding with the welcome sign. The jolt slammed Amon against the roof of the car, knocking him out of his reverie. Andi slammed open the car door and leapt out, looking around for the moron he'd almost hit so he could kick his ass.

The Past pointed and laughed at the ruined car. He disappeared, leaving a card where he was. It was an innocent looking postcard that said 'welcome to Silent Hill' and the picture was that of Nadia.

Andi knew the guy had been there a second ago, but now he couldn't see him anywhere. He even checked under the car, in case he'd hit him after all. He found nothing; until he went back up to the road and spotted a card, too clean to have been there for long. He stared at the picture, creeped out. Where most postcards of that sort would have a picture of the town, this one just had a little girl, and so similar to the one he'd forced himself not to think of for years. He might have turned back then, if Amon hadn't gotten out of the car and come to stand by him. He gave Andi a puzzled look and pointed into the town, as if asking what he was waiting for. It was the most responsive Amon had been in two days, and Andi just couldn't deny him. He dropped the card back in the road, and they entered the town on foot.

Kaito sipped at his coffee quietly as Haruto looked out the window. Now that they were there, what were they supposed to do?

Amon was still acting strange. Though he followed Andi obediently he barely seemed to realize there was someone else there; he was completely enthralled by the sights of the town. Andi led the way to a cheap motel and got them a room. Staring out the window of the main office, Amon briefly locked eyes with a young man in the diner across the way. For a moment he felt a strange sense of connection; then it was gone, and he followed Andi to there room, where he sat silently and thought about this town that spoke to him so strongly.

Lynn finally reached the outskirts of the town. A car, presumably one of the ones that had passed him, had crashed into the sign, and he was glad he hadn't asked for a ride. As he entered, he thought again about the strange letter he had received. Insane ramblings, desperate apologies, and the odd statement 'I can never leave.' The envelope said it came from Silent Hill; and now here he was, to finally find the man who had destroyed his everything so many years ago - the man who killed his child.

((Apparently Silent Hill broke his son's killer - just because.))

Haruto got up and said "I'm gonna go get us a room in the motel, stay here okay?" Kaito got up and said "No. I don't want to..." Haruto sighed, but knew the reason. He took Kaito's hand, paid for the coffee and left for the motel.

He got a room and they settled in. Kaito looked out the window and said "look at that fog"

Andi stared out the window. "Great, there's a thick fog rolling in. Whatever you wanted to do here will have to wait."
For some reason he couldn't explain, the fog frightened Amon; he quickly moved to lock the door, then pulled Andi away from the window. Something bad was coming. They shouldn't have come.

Lynn sat in the diner, watching the fog roll in. It occurred to him that he hadn't eaten in a while and should probably get some food, but he wasn't hungry. He was rarely hungry since Cody died. Instead he simply laid his head on the table and fell asleep.

((Lynn's not entirely stable. In his mind a diner is a perfectly acceptable place for a nap.))

The Past appeared at the door. His eyes were red and watery, as if he had been crying for a while. He sniffled and said "you should have stayed away. I can't fight him. You're stranded here now... with them" He pointed at the window, sure that the dolls were out now.

((You didn't actually say who he appeared to, but I'm assuming it's Andi and Amon...))

Andi pulled Amon behind him and snarled at the stranger. "You! What the hell is your problem?! Get out!" He pulled a dagger out of his duffel bag.

The Past ran to the window and gasped. He ducked as the window burst, letting in three Dead Dolls. He tackled one and yelled "RUN!!"

(It's gonna be hard changing his personality so quickly -_-' )

"What the hell?!" Andi stared in shock at the strange children who had just burst into the room. Whatever was going on here, he wanted no part of it. He grabbed the bag and Amon and took off, kicking down the flimsy door rather than fussing with the lock. They ran out into the fog, hoping to find a secure place where they could hide.

Haruto and Kaito had run from the motel after being attacked by their shadows. They ducked into the diner and............ dude sleeping at a table? They decided not to bother him and ducked behind a table.

Andi and Amon ran into the diner, slamming the door behind them. At the noise Lynn opened one eye, and noticed that the waitress and cook had vanished. He wondered if they'd closed and forgotten to kick him out or lock the door. Andi, meanwhile, glanced around and noted three other people in the diner; the sleeper and two guys... behind a table, for some reason. "Freaks out tonight," he commented, ushering Amon to a chair.

Haruto swallowed hard as he heard a voice outside call out in a sing-songy voice "Red Rover, Red Rover. I call Andi over" Haruto stood up in time to see The Past slit his own throat. It was a shallow cut, just enough to draw blood, and he painted on the window 'No where to run, No where to hide'.

Andi whirled toward the window, yelling "How the hell do you know my name?!" He ignored the bloody message, unable to read it anyway. "Do you think I'm afraid of you and your demented kids? I could take you out in my sleep!" He now had a dagger from their bag in each hand. His impulse was to charge outside and fight, but Amon had grabbed his arm to hold him back. He knew Andi too well.

Lynn watched the strange events with more interest than fear. He knew this was crazy; he should have been afraid, but not much scared or shocked him any more. Still, even if he never feared for his life he was smart enough to be ready to defend it. He reached into the backpack on the floor next to him and pulled out a revolver.

The Past cackled as he ran down the street. As the man was distracting everyone else Kaito approached the blonde's quiet companion and waved hello.

Amon hesitantly waved back at the stranger. Andi stuck one blade in his belt and grabbed Amon's hand. "We're getting out of this town." He glanced around at the others. "Any sane person would." He opened the front door and peered warily around.

Kaito turned to his brother and asked "Do we go?" Haruto nodded and readied the gun he had in his pocket. They left the diner and headed for their car, but turned immediately away when they saw the dolls surrounding it. They walked to the town entrance and stood dumbfounded at the wire fence that seemed to go on forever. Kaito placed a hand on the fence, but jumped back as he felt a shock.

Not wasting any time, Haruto grabbed Kaito's hand and made a mad dash to the church. He remembered a time when they were younger and they heard about a child killer. Back then their church seemed like a sanctuary, but now it almost seemed like a dark aura was drawing them to it. They quickly entered and closed the door.

Andi slammed his fists against the fence in spite of the painful shock it gave him. It was unlikely he could get over the top before the electricity overcame him; there was no way Amon could make it. The best option was to find a pair of rubber-handled wire cutters. He glanced around and spotted a church nearby. He knew from experience that churches always had tools to handle their own repairs, and they never locked anything up. He led Amon around to the back, avoiding a pair of those strange children who were banging their chains against the front door. They crept inside and he began going through the cabinets he found, looking for something useful.

Lynn was the last to emerge from the diner. He noted the fence barring the exit and matter-of-factly7 declared to no one in particular that he should find a high point to watch for threats from. The tallest building around was a gothic-style church, with a tall spire. He strolled easily over to it; and was knocked to the ground when a chain wrapped around his knee and pulled. A second blow connected with his face, and he knew he'd have a nasty black eye later. With no hesitation he grabbed the chain, pulled the child wielding it close, and put a bullet through her skull. The sound attracted the attention of more children, and perhaps something else; he heard screaming in the distance. He hurried to the church, found the door blocked, and climbed the rough stone wall until he reached a shattered window. He climbed inside, onto a dark scaffold, and peered down into the church below.
