X-Men: Innocence - Restart

The X-men have strived for years to improve relations between human and mutants, but now all their success is being undone. A strange virus is spreading among humans, causing mutations; often these mutations are unstable and the victim ends up dead. Fear has led people to turn against all mutants. Violent riots outside the Xavier Institute ended with the police taking the X-Men into 'protective custody' and most of the students going into hiding. A handful of mutants decide it's not enough to just hide away; they want to discover who's behind the virus and maybe even find a cure.

Adam was clinging to the ceiling. Again. The way his clothes hung off him made him look even skinnier than usual. His voice was barely audible to the others as he said. "What could we do? We can't fight a disease."
"But it's not a natural disease," Leo pointed out. He had brought the others to his home since the mansion was no longer safe. "For every mutant to be immune it's gotta be engineered. So we find the people who made it."

"How?" Cosmo replied as he sat in the windowsill "We don't have one clue who made it"

"So we figure it out." Leo was as over-confident as ever. "Who would want to infect people with mutation?"
