Bio: Mathew Birkin was a good man caught in a bad situation. As a child, his mother tried to commit murder-suicide when her ex-husband threatened to take him and his sister Claudia away. Mathew survived the attempt, but he was the only one. He spent a few years in a childrens psychiatric hospital, getting daily visits from his father. At age 14 he became an out patient, then at age 17 he was deemed stable enough to stop going to sessions. Mathew met his true love, Justine, at age 19. When he refused Justine's proposal after being together for two years, he didn't expect a mafia don to react. Mathew, with a bouquet of roses and every intention to try and keep the relationship going, went home to find his lover and two hit men waiting for him. the two men held Mathew still while Justine beat on him with brass knuckles. Mathew managed to dodge a blow to the head, letting one of the hit men take the punch, escaped the men's arms, and stole one of their guns. One man went for his gun and Mathew panicked, shooting him in the chest. The other man, with his hands up, tried to back away, but in a fit of rage Mathew shot him and Justine as well.

Mathew didn't resist arrest, but even he could not resist the call of freedom.

Bio: Salem has lived in Selene his whole life with his younger sister Chloe. No one is sure who their parents are; people in Selene have a way of disappearing not just from the town, but from memory. Salem rarely even thinks about the fact that he must have had parents at some point. Now he owns the general store and lives on a small farm just outside of town.

Bio: Sandy appeared in Selene as a pregnant teenager. She was obviously running from someone, but otherwise she was a normal, friendly young woman. Then she entered Hemlock's mansion. She was one of the few who returned; eighteen years later, having aged only nine. She was completely mad, unable to explain what she had faced or what had become of her child. She had also developed some precognition. She now lives in a tent at the town entrance, telling fortunes to travelers.

Bio: Harmony lead a very dull, but happy life. Her parents were loving, never fighting in front of the kids, and she and her brother Wesley got along very well. Harmony was always fascinated by Chinese sword dances and practiced at a very young age. She eventually became part of a traveling theater group that displayed many exotic dances and music.

Bio: Anne was a prosecutor in Seattle. She had a high conviction rate, but enough criminals slipped through the cracks that she eventually got fed up and quit. She took a job as a legal advisor, which she can do from anywhere, and set off for the small town where her sister lives. Along the way she picked up Sarah, a hitchhiker.
